A number of children have died and several others sustained serious injuries following a ghastly motor accident which occurred earlier today March 31 2023 along the Moliwe-Mile 4, Limbe road stretch.
Local sources revealed that a heavy duty truck transporting sand lost control and collided with a mini bus transporting students.
The victims are students of the Government Technical High School Ombe who were on their way to school in Mutengene to collect their results slips, given today is the closing day for the second term of the 2022-2023 academic year.
Unofficial sources have placed death toll above a dozen and some of the mortal remains have been rushed to the motuary in Tiko and Limbe.
In the meantime , the Mayor of Tiko Council Hrm Chief Mesoso together with the Senior Divisional Officer for Fako Mr Chaibou has visited survivors who were rushed to the Mutengene Baptist Hospital and the Mile 1 Hospital in Limbe. The objective of the visit was to take account of the exact number of injured persons and lives lost in the accident.
It should be noted here that, one student equally gave up the ghost at the Mutengene Baptist Hospital placing unofficial death toll at 13 now. This is the sixth accident that has claimed the lives of many within a short period of time.
