A number of persons are believed to have been injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) was detonated by unidentified individuals around the Biaka Junction area in Buea.
The device which went off early this morning only a few minutes after the kickoff of the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope shoved fear into bystanders and lovers of the race of hope.
This year, the race is coming within a particular context brought about by calls for civil disobedience otherwise known as ghost towns calls by non state armed actors.
It should be noted that, the first two devices were blown off around the Biaka Junction area in Buea while the third was detonated at Bonduma Gate, leaving several persons injured with no major casualty reported so far.
In the meantime, security has been beefed, with a massive reinforcement of security and defense forces to maintain calm around.
It should also be noted that several persons have been arrested in connection with the explosions. However,It would not be unfair to say that calm now reigns in Buea and there is a positive energy especially with the return of some of the athletes of the junior and veteran categories.
